Pahi, on the Kaipara

Our next stop was a beautiful and simple little campsite on the waters edge at Pahi.
We were made to feel very welcome by some local campers,  Shaz and Poppa Bob.
Shaz invited herself to our campsite and regaled us with hilarious stories, chatted with PB  and even shared bit of history of the old building right on the edge of the beach.   (While it had numerous roles, the most intriguing was that it had once been a brothel!)  Oooh lah lah!
DH had a kayaking adventure around the Pahi River, and even Grand Dad (85) got out in his inflatable dinghy for a potter around the place.

Only in town for one night, we made some cheese scones in the caravan in the morning as the rain came over and PB got to listen to Margaret Mahy stories on CD in the nice warm dry caravan.
Cool place, laid back, easy,  can recommend.
