We spent the morning having some fun in Naseby at the curling rink. So great! Love that game and now on the bucket list is to skate and curl on a for reals outdoor frozen lake.
Had lunch in a wee pub that had a nice garden bar, then headed back to Ranfurly to pick up the caravan.
Off we went to a FREE DOC camp at St Bathans. Again, we were stunned by the rugged beauty of yet another glorious campsite.
We rode our bikes to the village and the lake, it was only a short ride and the village was SO CUTE! Historic buildings dotted around the town and you were able to go inside for free (and you KNOW how we love 'free'!)
Lots of stands around town filled with info about the gold rush that helped to form the town.
I should have taken a picture, but there were also two pigs who were residences of a wee house in town, just lazing about in the front yard.
Next morning, we headed back to the lake for morning tea. It was a cold start - 2 degrees! Brrrr! So DH was in two minds about going for a paddle but with a few comments like: "You won't regret it." And a family favourite: "Live a little!", he braved the elements and paddled out on the beautiful, still, silent lake.
PB and I made biscuits then PB had a swim. Yes! I know! Crazy! But the water was warmer than the air, and we had a caravan with a heater and warm bickies to help everyone warm up afterwards.
Sweet little St Bathans.
